OSCA successfully defended their 131 total, bowling Kilburn out for 124 at Montrose today. After being asked to bat again, OSCA were 3 down and well over 100 runs ahead when the match was called at 4.30 pm. Key figures in the match were Tucker (1st innings batting), Miller (6 wickets) and Niederer (2nd innings batting).

Old Scotch Cricket Teams into Finals this weekend!

B GRADE & C GRADE STORM INTO GRAND FINALS!

(Real time coverage & photos will be available at www.scotchoc.com.au/grandfinal for this weekend's Grand Finals)

For the first time since 1979/80 Old Scotch has two teams competing in Adelaide Turf grand Finals. A fantastic effort by both teams who will go into the Final full of confidence.

The news gets better as due to SANFL at Kilburn Oval & One Table event at Scotch the B grade will play Kilburn at OSCA’s spiritual home and original ground, Montrose. The C’s will venture to Marion Oval on Saturday.

In a great team effort the B’s accounted for Flinders Park last weekend in a game that was much closer than the scoreboard indicates. Winning the toss & batting Anthony Tucker combined with Tom Kidman for an 87 run opening partnership against some good bowling. Tom Grundy then took the game away from Flinders Park, making a hard hitting 87 including 4 sixes. Justin Wight, Andrew Dow & Harry White then made sure OSCA posted a large total, finishing at 7/296 off the 72 overs. Flinders Park batted well to get to 4/130 at tea on Day 2, but some great bowling from Nick Blight & finals specialist Michael Ashforth with 5 wickets helped OSCA to a 136 run victory.

The C’s trekked to Mawson Lakes to take on the top side. Peter Feeney finally won a toss & duly batted. After losing an early wicket Kym Ryder & Jody Tucker combined for a 61 run partnership that would prove match winning. Once Tucker was dismissed for 47 the rest followed quickly & OSCA’s total finished at a tricky target of 123. Mawson Lakes came out all guns blazing and quickly got to 29 before Parsons Jnr, claimed the first 2 wickets. At 2/66 the Lakers were cruising until Stephen Parsons & Chris Rogers entered the attack. 4 wickets each and Mawson Lakes had lost 8/28, dismissed for 94 in only the 23 over. A superb bowling & fielding effort was highlighted by two classic catches from keeper Craig Phillips.

We will have many fun events planned for the year and will continue to keep you up to date with information both on this website and through our regular e-newsletter.

First up is the 'Back to the Boatshed' fundraising function at the Scotch Boat Shed. Come along on February 11th at 7.30pm and support Scotch Rowing and at the same time enjoy great food, wine and entertainment. Head of the River this year is on Saturday March 31st come along that day also to support our crews!

Next is the Welcome to the Old Collegians drinks at The Edinburgh on Wednesday February 15th at 6.30pm. A great opportunity for our newest Old Collegians to see what options are available to them once they have finished their schooling but wish to maintain a strong link with the College.

The Adelaide City Dinner has been booked at The Adelaide Oval for Friday August 24th, so please put that in your diary and start getting your table together, tables of 8 this year! We have dropped the Black Tie and have chosen a much more relaxed cocktail format with roving entrees, seated main course and mingling again for cheese. A fabulous menu and great drinks package combined with the stunning Adelaide Oval will make this a night not to miss.

Any questions or to nominate yourself as a Table Captain, please contact Sarah Freeman on 8274 4256 or email sfreeman@scotch.sa.edu.au
